Hidden: Chapter 19

Chapter XIX

Her Revelation

“I’m a Scape myself Aceil Cenedy.”

“I’m sorry?”

Did I hear it right? Last time I check my hearing is good. Why is that I keep hearing things? The mistress has no power? Lol, who am I kidding?

“We are both a Scape Aceil Cenedy.”

Right then and there my jaw drops. So I don’t need to go to the healers of the school to check on me. I heard it bright and clear. The mistress is also powerless.

“How come… being a scape is a curse, how come… you and… I?” Was all I could say. I don’t know what to ask because I don’t know we are going to talk about. Too many questions yet I don’t know what to start first.

“Once upon a time, there’s a powerful young girl from a powerful with an unfathomable ability. She discovered her power before she reaches the right time, she discovered her power at the age of five. The Sceill world was really impressed by the things she can do at a very young age. This girl was exceptional. Despite her power and status as Ufan, she is very kind. Everyone respected and envied her but then her younger sister grew with so much jealousy and hatred.

When this girl reaches 12 years old, she met her guardian. She was delighted from the time he revealed himself to her. Her guardian is the son of an officer underneath her status. The girls’ parents were disgusted, they expected that their youngest child to not have a guardian for she can stand in herself alone.

The family tried to hide the truth from the others. They held the guardian captive in their palace. The guardian cannot argue with it for his power is not enough to save himself let alone his master.

From time to time, the powerful girl visited her guardian. Each time she asked for forgiveness for what her family had done to him. But the Guardian insisted that as long as he could see his master he could endure anything even death…

Years passed, the time comes… they fall in love with each other. The girl had begun to have the courage to escape with the man she truly loved.

Then they eloped, away from the eyes of the high society, away from everyone who knew them.”

Why is she telling me this? Isn’t loving between a master and a guardian prohibited? This is worse than a taboo.

“Why are you saying this to me?” I ask. If this kind of a history lecture, I admit that I don’t really listen to the class.

“Because that woman and her guardian are my parents.”

Her what? From what I read on the Master’s guidebook, any offspring of the forbidden love will die.

And how

“What the book says that you’ve read is not true Aceil Cenedy. And not all information from are credible.”

Why? Why did they say that romance between two people is shameful, who didn’t even made anything wrong with them? They just fall in love.

“When they found out about me, they tried to kill me to save the dignity of the family. From then on they spread the false rumor about the relationship of a master and a guardian. Because they are very much respected at that time, everyone believes it. They cast a curse for anyone might do the same mistake that my parents did, their offspring will surely die. They did it to cover the shame. That shame is me Aceil Cenedy.

My parents tried to protect me, they even sacrifice their lives because of me. The same night when my parents died, was the moment I found out that I am the Mistress.”

I saw myself on her. But she’s way luckier than me.

“How did you cope? I mean you are powerless” She laughs at my question. I’m correct, right? How did she accomplish her role as a Mistress if she didn’t have power?

“You just have to remain the love in your heart… It’s the most powerful weapon Aceil Cenedy.” She smiled.

No… she doesn’t know me entirely. Love? Is she kidding me? For what I’ve been through she expect me to have love in my heart? For all these years all I felt was hatred, darkened and betrayed.

“You expect me to be kind? Are you serious? You don’t know me at all Margarette.” I spat.

“I know your heart Aceil Cenedy. Your memory is also mine same as mine is yours. The time will come that you will also see my memory as well as of the Mistress before me. We are all one Aceil Cenedy.”

“No, you don’t know me. There’s no single kindness left in my heart, Margarette. I’m afraid that it’s all darkness and pain, I can’t comply with what you are saying!” I cried. Why did think that way? She expected a lot from me.

“Tell me Aceil Cenedy, have you ever felt to have revenge to what they did to you?” I froze.  What she’s saying is true. This is the most embarrassing thing that I’ve hidden. I can’t even avenge myself. I admit it.

It didn’t even enter my mind.

“You didn’t even dream of having a power, you dreamed to be stronger ut acquiring a certain Sceill never crosses your mind, am I right?” She’s reading me like a book. Am I really like that? She knows me more than myself?

“But why? Why do I have to be powerless?”

“Why do you want to have a Sceill Aceil Cenedy?”

I found myself speechless. Yes, everything she was saying, all are true.

“See you don’t have a reason to have a power. Even revenge do not push you to dream one.” She smiles, I sigh in defeat. There’s no way I can win against her. She knows me well like the back of her hands.

“I think I understand your point, yeah sort of. But why the Sceill chose a scape? A powerless creature?”

“Because how can the Sceill place itself with a girl that already has Sceill?”

I kind of understand what she said there, but it’s too confusing.

“You see Aceil Cenedy, you are just an empty container, a pure and kind container. You are the only one who can actually hold the Great Sceill itself.”

“And what does being a Mistress do Margrette?” I found his eyes right before mine. I can see myself clearly in her gold iris.

“That’s for you to find out Aceil Cenedy, but right now I need you to give this to Claude, he cares for you child and I think it is the right time to open up to him.”

Margarette voice slowly fades. Like someone is pulling my body out.

*****

“Ace.”

“Please wake up Ace!”

I woke up from a voice calling me.

“Cenedy? Thank goodness, I thought I lost you again!” That person hugs me. My eyes still adjusting to the brightness of the day.

“Aiden?” Yes, it’s Aiden. How can I forget?

I studied the place, it’s the healers quarter.

“Why am I here?” I ask. I don’t have any illness.

“You’ve been unconscious for three days Cenedy. Since the night of the mission, you didn’t wake up until this day. The healers didn’t find anything wrong with you. They did some tests on you but they didn’t really find any sickness or wounds.”

If it’s like that, I was stuck in my dreams for three days?

“Tell me, what happened before you blacked out?” He asks in concern.

“It’s nothing Aiden, I’m fine.” I don’t want to drag him again. He is too delicate for that.

“Is it because of…”

“Please Aiden, I need to rest. I’m exhausted.”

“Exhausted? You’ve been sleeping for three days and you are tired? You always treat me like this. Hiding everything from me. I deserve to know Cenedy. Did you forget that…”

“I’m sorry.” I stand up and hugs him. He is too precious to me. I can do anything for him. This is maybe what Margarette tell me– love. I guess I’m not too cruel after all. Aiden is a living proof of that.

I feel him lift me up and carries me. He places me to the bed again.

He kissed my forehead.

“You’re still not forgiven. I’m sure you didn’t forget my birthday? It’s getting near and I expect a gift from you. actually seven gifts.” He then kissed the back of my left hand.

“Hey, there lovebirds! That’s enough, you’re cheesy!”

They are standing behind Aiden. So embarrassing! Did they just saw us? Sugar, Miss Hinamori, Rhoanne, Clover and Claude. I want to ground to eat me. I feel my cheeks burning from the heat!

“Tssk, disturbance!” I heard Aiden muttered.

“Be ready for my birthday.”

The way he said it, it’s more of a warning than a reminder. But maybe its just my mind. No biggie. I need to rest for now. I mean re-rest.
